The Five Intentions of Presbyterian Youth Ministry
- To call young people to be disciples in Jesus Christ,
- To respond to the needs and interests of young people,
- To work together, youth and adults, in partnership,
- To be connected to the whole church, community, world,
- To include all young people, reaching out and inviting them to belong to the community of faith.
Presbyterian Youth Fellowship (PYF) – Sundays 5:30 – 7:30 PM, Room 222
High school is a demanding part of adolescence – the pressure to succeed academically and socially, in athletics and in extra-curricular clubs and groups can be overwhelming at times. Sr. High PYF strives to provide high school youth with a safe haven from these and other pressures. PYF is an open and caring community of teenagers that seeks to have fun, support and pray for one another, and learn together. The weekly PYF meetings are planned and led by a Leadership Team composed of high school youth and youth-friendly adult sponsors.
Mid-High PYF – Sundays 5:30 – 7:30 PM, Room 220
All middle school youth are invited and encouraged to participate in PYF. PYF is a community of middle school youth and youth friendly adults who gather each week to enjoy fellowship, service, bible study, and lots of food. PYFers learn wacky energizers, play crazy games, and engage the bible through role play, arts, small group discussions, and individual reflection. Plans are underway for fall and spring retreats. Mid-High PYF provides a safe community where middle school youth can just be themselves.
Special Seasonal Events
Fall Retreat
The purpose of the fall retreat is to build community within the group and focus on our relationship with one another and with God through discussion, games and worship.
Ski Trip
Whether you have never been on the slopes before or you’re a ski pro, this trip is a blast. A full day on the slope, capped off with hot cocoa by the stove, with a few short devotions are what you can expect on this trip.
Spring Retreat
The spring retreat is very similar to the fall retreat, but will be in a different place with a different theme.
Summer Mission Trips
Each summer a group goes on a mission trip to a different location. The mission trip is an opportunity to serve God by helping others.
Montreat Youth Conference
The Montreat Youth Conference is a week-long event that brings 1,000 Presbyterian high school youth to the mountains of North Carolina for fellowship, study, and worship.
